Thursday is the new Sunday – Quality is job #2

September 15, 2011

Sorry I missed last Thursday’s Sunday but this week’s strip is pretty good so hopefully it’ll make up for it.

I wish I could’ve done this well with every Sunday. Even though it’s one of my trademarked wordy strips, the color really works. And it involves the return of The Lost Man…

Return of the Bad Blogger

June 9, 2010

Yep, been busy with stuff and not blogging well. There’s a contract I’m going over about a project I can’t talk about yet. There’s art for this year’s Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship I’m reviewing that I can’t show you yet. But here’s a couple of mediocre new items:

I dig the drawing of Bo in the middle panel of this strip that ran a couple of days ago.

Bo Nanas

And “The Lost Man…” showed up on while Bo is working at the dusty ol’ comic strip trope: the bar.

“The Lost Man…” returns

September 8, 2009

Here he is again on Go – this time with a spectacular comb-over. (For those of you playing along at home, “The Lost Man…” is a phrase I made up for all those miscellaneous people Bo meets that can’t find their way in their lives.)

Another Lost Man…

July 21, 2009

The strip on today features another another miscellaneous Lost Man… Usually, they’re pretty meek through-and-through. This one has the outer shell  a blowhard.

Thursday is the new Sunday – Plan D?

June 18, 2009

The Sunday strip rerunning on today is yet another appearance of “The Lost Man…” character. This is not really one character but a bunch of miscellaneous one-time characters that are all kinda…lost. This one seems pretty young. Maybe he thought he was just entitled to a great life and is now already beaten down.

The drop panel above is the standard “tail peek”with filing overtones.

Thursday is the new Sunday – Have it your way…

May 14, 2009

The Sunday strip rerunning on today has another appearance by “The Lost Man…” (see here for the definition). this time in the form of a fast food worker with few options.

Wow, what a downer. (And I think my editor was concerned about that.)

The drop panel above isn’t really much: just a variation on a standard tail peek. Although, now that I think of it, it could symbolize the crushing weight of a dead-end job. (What fun, huh?)

The Lost Man…

April 29, 2009

The strip up on today is yet another one with a character I’ll just call “The Lost Man…” (I just made up that name. And I think the ellipses will permanently be part of it.)

It’s not so much a character (always a different person, although pretty Sad Sack-looking) as a character type. Someone who is forlorn, trapped in a mundane life, whose dreams didn’t work out, who is looking for what escaped him, who is…lost. (I don’t think I’ve done a female version of this.)

Anyway, I’m going to add “The Lost Man…” to my categories.
