What I’m reading – The Art of Harvey Kurtzman

Cover Image

He invented MAD, created poignantly realistic war stories (at a time when they were unheard of) and, in some roundabout way, helped the Monty Python group form. (Terry Gilliam was an assistant on Kurtzman’s MAD-like Help! magazine where he met John Cleese, who had come in for a fumetti* shoot.) This is one luscious book. I’ve been pouring over it for weeks, racking up library fines.
