Watching the old Batman TV show I always wondered why the villains didn’t just follow the Batmobile back to the Batcave. Or to a tent at a local Harley Davidson dealership. That’s where I found it – right next to Evel Knievel’s gold motorcycle. (He didn’t use it on jumps – just tooling around town.)
Speaking of the Big E, he was the real live superhero of my 70’s childhood. For a long time I didn’t even know he was real. His was just a name parents would invoke when you were doing something hazardous and stupid – “Don’t be an Evel Knievel.” Then, when I was in junior high, he showed up on ABC’s Wide World of Sports. After that I couldn’t get enough. I even have a copy of the cheesy George Hamilton-starring bio-pic just because it has real jump (and crash) footage in it. (You can find it at many of your finer dollar stores.)
